Day 1810 - Dress Me Up

Today's the big day!

Today is the day I help to run a fashion show.  Life is full of firsts and this is one them. I've coordinated a bunch of events in my time but never a fashion event. Eeeee!  To say I am nervous is an understatement.  I can't image how the "brains" of the operation is feeling.

Kristy from Sash & Belle handbags is the brains behind this little gig.

Sash & Belle was only launched in April of this year and has already experienced good success in the ACT. I've been very much a part of the launch of Kristy's handbag label right here in the Nation’s Capital.  I guess I've been her "cheerleader" through the whole thing and a bit of a coach as well.  Plus of course Tahlia models for the brand.

Kristy decided to put together today’s event so she could not only get to showcase her spring/summer line, but also get to promote Canberra fashion stores and raise money for a fantastic and much needed cause - Ovarian Cancer Research.

Did you know that ovarian cancer claims one woman every ten hours? Can you believe that? One woman dies every ten hours from this disease.

As there is currently no early detection test and a lack of symptoms in the early stages of disease, women are usually diagnosed in the late stages - when the cancer has spread to other organs in the body. Ultimately the Foundation's goal is to ensure that an early detection test becomes as readily available and habitual as a pap smear or breast mammogram in every woman's regular medical.

So that's a big reason why this day is so important.  Kristy wants to donate at least $2000 to the cause through today's show.

So anyway, I am sitting here at my desk going through the final to-dos - as a sponsor, as a "mumager" and as one of the coordinators.

Let's get this show on the road baby!
