A study in Britain has shown that dancing makes people happy. No shit Sherlock. I think Ellen "trademarked" that around eleven years ago. And I probably discovered it at the age of four. But wait ... the study was actually able to monetise this dancing happiness. Their study disclosed that dancing makes people as happy as a pay raise worth more than $2,500.
Just add singing to release even more endorphins and you've got yourself a a world of happy. Further research has shown that people who sing every day have a higher satisfaction with life.
I'd be pretty happy too if I could actually carry a tune. As it is singing might release some happy chemicals in my own body, but I think it would make the endorphins in my family run away and hide.
Anyway, the bottom line is that singing and dancing makes people feel good.
It's a great way to feel less Deep Fried. All part of this aging positively gig.
Who's up for a karaoke dance party this Friday night?

I love dancing, it is so much fun especially with a group of friends :)
ReplyDeleteDancing is one of my favourite ways to beat the blues. :-)
ReplyDeleteMe, me, me! *waves hands in the air like she just don't care*. I try to dance a little everyday. It's good for the soul. I sing too, but the family doesn't like it. My two year old told me to stop yesterday.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should say this - tonight is our bi-monthly song club - we go to a friends and have to sing on a theme...which for me, bacause I can't sing, means picking songs that require call & response or dance actions to go with it....This time I had Elvis selected for me, so I'm going with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoUPFVdOpE0
ReplyDeleteReading this post made me happy!
ReplyDeleteI love singing flat and nice and loud. That makes me happiest! Probably not so for the neighbours.
Oh yes! Kitchen dancing is very big around here :)
ReplyDeleteNo wonder my daughter is so happy everyday!! She just sings and dances whenever she can :)

I honestly can't remember the last time I danced. It's been that long I suspect I've forgotten how. Might need to do something about that this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love to dance around the house when I do housework, makes it much more bearable and I feel pretty good afterwards too.
ReplyDeleteSometimes my iPod is my best friend. Earphone in I let my favourite songs boost my energy and give me a lift. I even use it when I am ironing, makes the time go so much faster. xx N
ReplyDeleteI used to take singing lessons and man, did I feel fantastic after each one!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes to having a boogie! Always gets me in a good mood while I'm cooking dinner :)
OH I so wished I could sing! I love dancing but haven't had much opportunities to do much of anything lately :)
ReplyDeleteIf only I could sing with Karaoke Night but yeah I think my family would run far and fast if they heard me singing.
