I sometimes have skin irritation issues. They are becoming more frequent. Derek has sensitive skin. We could do with a preventative measure.
I don't eat fish. I mean I do if it's put in front of me; but I don't choose to cook it for the family. It's not in our weekly meal planner and I guess it should be.
Occasionally I get the crumbed fish from the frozen food section, but I'm not sure how much fish oil that contains.
Anyway, there are many many reasons we should have fish oil in our diet, with this sensitive skin thing another to add to our list.
Fish oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. According to skin specialists these fatty acids reduce redness and irritation as well as help plump skin and minimise fine lines. It is suggested we take 1,000 to 2,000 mg of cod liver oil daily in a lemon-flavoured formulation (to prevent fish burps). Fish burps! Eeeeeek.
So if you need to calm red or sensitive skin, give fish oil a try. It will help you feel less Deep Fried.
Happy Saturday!

Note: Some studies suggest that while there are many many health benefits of fish oil, consuming too much could actually have a detrimental effect. There's a whole article about that controversy over here. It doesn't seem to be enough to counteract the above theory though.
