Who wants to own this new epic space adventure?
We're big on "family movie night" at our house so we're always excited when a new Marvel or Disney flick comes out that is suitable (and entertaining) for the four of us. The most recent flick to pass through our lounge room is Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
This movie is one of Marvel's highest grossing films for 2014 coming in as the fourth highest grossing Marvel title of all time. Aussies seemed to love it too as it was the third highest grossing film released in Australia this year. So yeah, it's worth owning.
So I'd never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy until now. I mean, I know about Spiderman, Iron Man, the Hulk. I knew of them as comics, as TV shows and as movies, but this Guardians of the Galaxy crew are a whole new kettle of fish.
"Kettle of fish" is probably a good term for them too.
They're basically a bunch of misfits who don't look like super heroes at all. For a start, one's a talking raccoon and another one's a tree. But between them they manage to draw you into their lives as they take battle across the cosmos.
Here's the storyline: In a quest to save the galaxy from being held under the criminal mind of Ronan the Accuser, Quill (the cheeky and slightly cocky adventurer) is teamed with Rocket (the gun-toting raccoon), Groot (the tree-like humanoid), Gamora (the mysterious soldier) and Drax the Destroyer (who is as his name suggests). They call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Their job is to stop the Accuser from destroying the entire universe.
The movie is fun!
I was worried at first on account of the M rating, but it was nothing my 10 year old hadn't seen before in other Marvel movies.
It's action packed as you would expect. It's got loads of space stuff, with lots of great fighting scenes and fancy super hero capers. There's enough cute factor with the tree and raccoon to keep the girls happy and enough muscle factor to keep the boys happy. Quill is good looking enough to keep Mum happy and there are enough laughs and hidden innuendos to keep Dad happy. Everyone is happy!
It's a pretty cool cast too. You've got Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper. It may take you a while to work out which one Vin is though! He didn't have to learn many lines.
Guardians of the Galaxy was released on Digital, Blu-Ray and DVD on December 3 and can be yours to own in time for Christmas.
The Deep Fried give-away is released TODAY!
********
Win a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy
Yep. You could win your own copy right here. Three copies to give away.
I won't be running the comp for long as I am conscious that winners may want this in their Christmas stocking.
So here it is:
To be in the draw simply spread the festive joy and send me some Christmas cheer. Just give me a "Merry Christmas", or "compliments of the season", or "cheers", or "ho ho ho" and that's it.
Be sure to leave me enough information so I can track you down if you win.
You can enter via blog comment, Deep Fried Facebook, Deep Fried Instagram or Twitter (be sure to include #DFFGalaxy so I can find you), text or email.
Open to Australian residents only and competition closes on Tuesday 16 December at midnight.
Ho ho ho ho ho
