The Sugar Bite - Cupcakes by Jade |
The thing I love about this story is not that I am eating cake, but that I am buying cakes from a thirteen year old girl who bakes, creates, sells and excels at such a tender age.
Jade has set up her business to earn a bit of extra cash doing something she loves. Her business is called "The Sugar Bite (Cupcakes by Jade)" and these cakes not only taste great but they look spectacular.
Forget being a kid in a candy store. Cupcakes trump candy for sure (especially cupcakes with candy on top!)
Jade brought 130 cupcakes with her on Saturday and had sold out by 1.00pm.
So she went home and started baking again. She finished at about 10.00pm and returned the next day with 170 fresh and very fancy cupcake creations. There was no compromise on the quality. Each cupcake was perfectly formed and perfectly decorated.
I don't know if she managed to sell out again on Sunday. But I do know that people were lining up first thing in the morning to make sure they didn't miss out (me included).
I wandered past at about 1.30pm and her table was looking bare. I'd say she'd had another successful day.
I love seeing children have big ideas and take action. I love seeing them in business. You just know that no matter what the world throws at them, that they are going to be OK.
Great job Jade!
If you're in Canberra, be sure to keep an eye out for Jade around the local markets scene. I can't wait to find her again to sample something new.

ReplyDeleteYum! I love cupcakes and I loved reading about Jade. When I was 13 I certainly wasn't thinking about selling items at a market. Well done Jade!
