Day 1965 - Max Factor Primer

Need some help keeping your face on ALL DAY?

I've heard a lot about "primers" over the last few years but never actually purchased any myself.  I didn't actually know what it did, but I kind of hope it was like "spakfilla" that filled in the pot holes and craters for a smoother more youthful face.

It's not that sort of a miracle but it does blur wrinkles, give a more matte appearance, even out skin tone and give a great base for your foundation to stick to for an all day coverage.

Vogue described the role of the primer as:

"Primers do for your skin what lingerie does for your figure - they smooth, flatter, conceal and hold things in place, so that everything you put on top of them looks immediately better".

So when Max Factor sent Tahlia Jane and I their Face Finity All Day Primer to trial I was very excited to see what it could do for this Deep Fried face.

I'm hooked.  I'm not sure I can go without it now.

From the moment I put it on my face feels smoother, less oily and more even.  Foundation goes on easily and creates a wonderfully fresh canvas.  Whether I am wearing nothing else but bronzer and mascara, or whether I am going for a full make up look for a night on the town, the Max Factor Face Finity primer creates a base from which to build a lasting impression.

Here are some pictures to show the subtle not-so-subtle differences.

Make-up at the end of the day WITHOUT primer:

My face looks redder, shiny, blotchy and I look like I've had a long day with the make up not looking fresh and in tact.

Make-up at the end of the day WITH primer:

Even from a distance you can see that my face has a more even tone, there is no shine and there appears to be fewer age spots and wrinkles.  Plus the make-up is still on!

Sorry I don't have any close ups.  I was taking pictures of my outfits rather than my make-up, but you do get the general idea.  Primer works!

Why does it work?

Max Factor Facefinity All Day Primer has patented flexi-hold technology that creates a flexible and comfortable film on the skin for an even surface, while micro correctors work to absorb sweat and sebum* which extends the wear of your foundation.  The Max Factor primer glides onto the skin beautifully instantly smoothing it for a matte finish.

How do you apply it?

Just clean your face, use your moisturiser as normal, and then pump out about a one centimetre dollop onto the back of your hand, then use the index finger of your other hand to dab it onto your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Distribute it evenly around your face and rub it in. You'll feel the silky smoothness.  Then apply your favourite foundation right over the top and the rest of your make-up as usual.

It's great for day time and even better for night!

As a bonus it has SPF 20 so you've got your sun care covered as well.

I love it.  I seriously seriously love it. It is my new favourite beauty thing.

If you haven't tried primer yet, then give Max Factor a go.  Released this month you can buy the Max Factor Facefinity All Day primer from stores for RRP $31.95.  It will help you feel less Deep Fried.

* What the hell is sebum? It's the oily stuff that comes out of your skin that helps prevent hair and skin from drying out.

I should mention that these photos are not touched up in any way.  I wish I knew how to touch up a photo ... but alas I do not.
