Day 2035 - Weleda Age Revitalising Skincare Range Product Review

Today I'm going to hand over my product review to my mum.

The lovely PR peeps from Weleda asked if I might like to trial the Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Skin Care range.  Of course I'm up for anything that helps us to age positively.  But rather than add these items to the ever growing basket of goodies on my bathroom shelf, I thought I might hand them over to Mum instead.  Happy birthday!

Before I hand the blog over to Mum, let me give you some background.

I have to be honest, I'd never heard of Weleda until these products arrived on my desk.  Although the history of Weleda dates right back to the 1920s.

Dr Rudolf Steiner and Dr Ita Wegman developed anthroposophic medicines in Switzerland in the 1920s.  This form of medicine encourages people to see their body, mind and spirit as intrinsically linked to our world as part of one holistic system.  They developed a personal approach to healthcare using natural ingredients that can holistically work with and support our body's healing tendencies.

They started to create one of the world's first biodynamic gardens to grow what they needed.  From this starting point over 90 years ago, Weleda is now represented in more than 50 countries.  They still cultivate their own biodynamic gardens and still believe in natural ingredients, and they still have a passion for beauty, wellness and environmental respect.

Mum is a hip and happening woman in her 60s.  She's active ... very very active.

Mum is one of those people who climbs mountains (literally), digs wells and builds community centres (for remote island communities), renovates her own home, goes grey nomading around Australia with Dad in the campervan, and landscapes my backyard ... all the while keeping good hair, great nails and being mindful of her skin care.

She's also a sun bunny and (many many years ago) used to smoke.  So her skin has been exposed to a few additional elements.  She is particularly conscious of the smokers lines around her lips.

When Weleda gave me the Age Revitalising Body Care range for "mature skin" I wondered if perhaps Mum might like to give it a whirl.

Here's my interview with Mum:

What aging challenges do you have?

Keeping my body slim and toned and serious lines around my mouth and chin, age spots on my hands and very dry legs and feet.

What new beauty products have you been using?

I've been using the Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Skin Care Range for mature skin by Weleda.

What do you like about them?

I particularly like the Eye and Lip Cream as it has reduced the lines around my lips and along my chin. Also, the Hand Cream has reduced the colour of the age spots on my hands and helps to keep my hands soft and moisturised.

Does the packaging appeal to you?

To be honest the packaging is not a stand-out and wouldn't necessarily attract my attention on a shelf.

Tell me a bit about the application.  How do the products feel?

Only a very small amount of the product is required and is easily absorbed by the skin.  My skin feels good when these products are applied.

How often do you use them?

I've been using them morning and night.

Do you think they help the aging process?

I feel that the Eye and Lip Cream, as well as the Hand Cream are certainly helping.

Would you buy these products again?

Yes, definitely.

Did you know much about this brand before now?

I knew nothing about these products before being offered the opportunity to use and assess them.

What age groups would you recommend these products to?

Fifty upwards, or as soon as any sign of lines and age spots begin to appear.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

I also tried the Evening Primrose Age Revitalising Body Oil but found it to be a bit oily and not easily absorbed by the skin.

I like the fact that Weleda products hold NATRUE certification which is the highest international criteria for natural organic finished products (not just ingredients) and that they are a member of the Union for the Ethical Bio Trade which ensures that everyone and everything along the entire growing, harvesting and manufacturing process is treated fairly, with care and respect.
