So what's going on in the life of Deep Fried Fruit?
Well, first things first I'm still here. So that's a good thing I suppose. I've been battling the dreaded head cold but that's a tiny challenge compared to many.
Poor Tahlia has had the flu. It hit her pretty hard so she had some time off. Nothing too sinister though. As you can see by that video up there she's doing well overall. It's a behind the scenes video taken at a modelling shoot at the start of winter.
We're actually off to Sydney today. Not for modelling though. It's time to go back to the surgeon for a pectus excavatum review. The bar in her chest has been irritating her lately so we've had X-Rays and we need the specialist to check it out.
We're also off to Sydney today to deliver my books to the distributor. Eight boxes of books are getting ready to hit book stores by Christmas. Win!
Today is a big medical day for Chelsea. She's in Brisbane to see her specialist who will run a whole gammit of tests to ensure her scarcoma hasn't returned and there's been no spread of cancer through her body.
It's been nine months since she had surgery to remove a 25cm tumor from her thigh. Sarcoma's are aggressive so every three months she has to get checked. It's a stressful time as you can imagine. It's hard being so far away ... I'm trying not to think negatively, but rather focus on getting good results.
The Darbster is still completely 100% soccer mad. Last night he was excited that Dad had gone out which meant the garage was bare and he could practice his skills without having to go outside in the cold Canberra air.
He's currently training two nights a week with the Premier League development squad and playing on Saturday's. He's just signed up with an indoor soccer team for the summer season and he recently tried out for Coerver Academy. It's all systems go!
What else has been happening?
Well, Mum and Dad just returned from their grey nomad adventures to warmer climates.
Derek's parents have been battling the flu but still managed a winter escape on a cruise which is nice.
My 93 year old Nanna is feeling poorly with her head cold, but surviving. She enjoys getting our phone call every week to get her footy tips. If there's one thing I know for sure she'll always tip the Tigers, the Bulldogs and the Sea Eagles (even though she doesn't like Manly; if you want to win ... you got to go for them ...) Her footy tipping logic is around 20 years old, but she's having fun.
I'm still signing on new clients every week with my Success Consultancy which is always good. It's a nice feeling to help people feel great about their lives.
The cheerleading comp went well the other week. I think that's why I got the head cold. I was feeling a bit run down afterwards. We don't know how much we raised yet as we're still finalising bills but we'll have enough money to skill 500+ cheerleaders at a workshop and still give Ronald McDonald House Canberra a few thousand dollars.
As for this middle age caper, the chin hairs keep growing, my eyebrows keep disappearing and the greys keeping sparkling, but I've got a bathroom full of gadgets and potions to deal with all that.
So that's a quick update.
I can't sit around chatting. It's time to get in the car and head to Sydneyville.
What have you been up to?
Wow, what a busy time! I'm just faffing around between home and work! :)
ReplyDeleteFaffing is good ...
DeleteBusy time for me too, preparing for my book launch and a month crammed with activities. Meanwhile, my brother decided to get married in the midst of it all!
ReplyDeleteBool launch! How exciting :) Damned brothers. Don't they know how much goes into a launch of a book? ;)
DeleteThanks Leanne for your very informative update. You and yours have much on your plates but are doing exceedingly well that is for sure. Health problems are always the 'worst' in terms of the testing and waiting. I hope it's good news for your daughter. Take care. Whilst you are busy as I see, you also seem quite contented with your lot, and what more could anyone ask! Denyse x
ReplyDeleteYes, testing and waiting are the worst. Though despite those worries (and the many offshoots of those worries) we are definitely content. Thanks for stopping by Denyse ... and for being so enthused by my update!
DeleteEight boxes of books! Well done! It must be satisfying to think of all the kids who will be receiving and reading your books at Christmas! Hope all works out health wise for your family! Strands of glitter are appearing for me too!
ReplyDeleteI am very excited about the 8 boxes of books. Yup! All delivered now and just awaiting their time to shine ...
DeleteCongrats on the Christmas promotion! That's great. Good luck with all the other stuff, and I hope the illness vanishes soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lydia. Yeah, it's almost gone. It's just a head cold, but it sure does make me sleepy ... Tahlia is just about over hers now too which is good.
DeleteSo much going on! Good luck with all the medical stuff, and look after yourself too, okay?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jodi. I'm getting plenty of sleep which is always good.
DeleteWow - you are busy! Lovely video of Tahlia - oh to be young and beautiful!! Good luck in Sydney and sending positive vibes for good results for Chelsea's check up! xo
ReplyDeleteOh to be young and beautiful indeed! I feel very squidgy and wobbly in comparison. Thanks for the positive vibes for Chels. She got through another round of tests with a big thumbs up from the specialist which is a HUGE relief.
DeleteLove this update. So much happening. That clip of Tahlia is gorgeous. (Though it makes me feel old!)
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed re medical check-ups and follow ups and hope everyone is over their dreaded lurgies soon!
Makes me feel old too Deb. All medical check ups went well ... so that finger crossing must have helped. Thanks!
DeleteWhat a cool update... My life seems boring by comparison
ReplyDeleteI was actually thinking this was a bit boring. I was like "does everyone really want to hear how sick we all are?"
DeleteI got goosebumps watching Tahlia in that video. You must be so proud of her! It sounds like all systems go with your family! Hope the medical news is good on all fronts with Tahlia and Chelsea.
ReplyDeleteAwww. Goosebumps. Yeah, I'm proud of her. She's a bit clever ...
DeleteAll medical news was good news yesterday. I get to breathe another sigh of relief.
You have a busy and full life - Tahlia looks lovely in the modelling clip. I hope the visit with the surgeon goes well and all the best for Chelsea's results. Cheering you on (he, he) from the sidelines with the books too and glistening alongside you in the grey department.
ReplyDeleteThanks for cheering Kathy! You make a great cheerleader ...
DeleteA lovely clip, what a gorgeous girl you have there! Best wishes on positive test results for Chelsea. Sounds like a busy and successful family you have there. How exciting to have those books hitting the stores!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah. Busy yes ...
DeleteI can't wait to see the books on shelves soon.
Hoping all the medical appointments have good news. Super exciting about the books!!
ReplyDeleteWe got thumbs up from all medical appointments yesterday. PHEW!
DeleteLove hearing all the behind the scenes stuff ... who says personal blogging is dead! What a busy time you are having. Enjoy your time in Sydney, luckily you missed the storm last night!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from #teamIBOT x
Personal blogging better not be dead! Because that would just make me feel even more Deep Fried ...
DeleteYou certainly have been busy. I tell my mum all the time that her hair is silver, not grey, she loves that.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely silver .... and glitter .... and diamonds .... grey is far too dull.
DeleteWow. You have just a little bit going on. I hope all goes well with Chelsea and Tahlia feels better soon. Wow - that girl has some great legs on her ;)
ReplyDeleteThe legs just go on and on forever .... Is it too late to return mine and request a longer pair?
