Fibromyalgia and me
The damn fibro fatigue hits me when I least need it nor expect it.
You know it's happening when you wake up tireder than when you went to bed.
It feels like there is a person on your back, gripping your shoulders, squeezing your limbs, weighing you down.
They're heavy. My back hurts, my shoulders ache, my knees hurt, my limbs feel constricted, my brain is mush and I'm just plain buggered.
My little serotonin soldiers are doing their best to stand to attention with their feel good energies. They're a little rickety though.
The only way to deal with it is to actually push through. When it comes to fibromyalgia if you give into it too much it can take a grip. You may never get back up. That fibro fatigue monster can be quite overpowering.
They say it's a bit like depression.
So I continue living with my getting-shit-done philosophy of "work first, rest next".
Up and at 'em!
Tick off those to-dos, be the master of my mind, body and soul. There's plenty of time to put my feet up and take stock of the situation later.
There's no other choice ...
I think it might be time to crank up the music and dance.
Peanut Butter Jelly gets me dancing every time. What's your get-up-and-dance track of the moment?
That does not sound pleasant! I hope it pass s soon. I can't get enough Ship to Wreck by Florence and the Machine at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteFlorence and the Machine are fun ...
DeleteGood on you for just sucking it up and getting on with it. I hope you get your work done quick and have time for a rest. In the meantime turn up that music!
ReplyDeleteMusic is at full blast!
DeleteHA! That's my FAV at the moment - it's the visualising the sleepless nights in the chateau...I'm actually going to see them with all the 18 year olds. I can not wait!!
ReplyDeleteOooooh!! That sounds like fun ...
DeleteThis reminds me of that saying, the body achieves what the mind believes! What a great attitude. I'm a terrible dancing, so I will leave the groovy moving to you. Crank it up! Hope you feel better soon x
ReplyDeleteGreat saying ...
DeleteI can relate have similar issues with my ongoing health issues and thyroid. Although, I do get to the point where I just can't keep going. I think I'm almost at that point this morning, following a week where there was one event after the other this week. I have two events tonight and I'm thinking I may need to find a stunt double or cancel.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon. I'm not sure I have a favourite dance song at the moment. Will have to think about it.
A stunt double would be good!
DeleteHope you're feeling energised when you read this Leanne. You have a great attitude, and that's a big part of the battle. I do like Peanut Butter Jelly, but my teenage kids have been playing it non-stop, so it may soon be time for me to find another fave! Take care :-)
ReplyDeleteAttitude is everything ...
DeleteI tried to be mind over body yesterday and go to work - but nope. Drove part of the way and thought "what the F*** am I doing?! I'm exhausted!" so I sat in a park until I had the energy to drive home.
ReplyDeleteOh, that doesn't sound good. Hope you got home OK and have re-energised by now
DeleteAwesome attitude, Leanne! I'm the only one in our house who likes it, but PBJ is my absolute favourite at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteIt's just so damn catchy. And that whole "visualise it" thing just appeals to me.
DeleteSugar by Maroon 5! Only because my 2 year old goes crazy to that song and it's infectious!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Yep, I can imagine that a 2 year old would be infectious!
DeleteI hope you get to rest soon and that your feeling of tiredness passes. "Are you with me" by Lost Frequencies is a fave in our household, because we heard it so much while we were on holidays in Europe a few months back. It brings back memories of summer :)
ReplyDeleteLost Frequencies ... will have to check that one out.
DeleteIt's a case of mind over matter, isn't it? I hope you get to really rest properly when you can. Michael Jackson tracks always get me going, especially "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough"
ReplyDeleteMichael Jackson works a treat! Yup ...
