Foods that come in packets often contain preservatives, flavourings, colours, sweeteners and other scary additives. This takes away from the nutritional value of the food.
Nutrient rich whole foods such as vegetables, fish, fruit, grains and nuts help support the immune system and gut health, both of which are important for good healthy brain function.
So while it may be easier to grab the packet stuff when you're having a flat day, it may not help you get any happier.
For a healthy, happy mind, fresh is always best!
People tend to eat processed food because it's convenient. There are now a few very convenient fruit and veg home delivery options to help Aussies eat fresh.
You can try Aussie Farmer Direct for most Australian states or for my Canberra friends there is Vegies to Your Door which has been operating since 2007.

DeleteI have been trying so hard to incorporate more fresh veggies into our menu plan each week. I think having them delivered to my door would help too - just all fresh and healthy produce no jars or tins allowed!
