Day 2232 - Carriageworks in Sydney, NSW

Have you heard of Carriageworks?

It's another one of the hidden Sydney gems I get to see when on Mumager duties.

Our model is in Sydney this week for the Fashion Design Studio end of year runway events.  FDS is a TAFE program that has produced designers such as Alex Perry, Dion Lee, Nicky Zimmerman and Romance Was Born. This end of year show is a big deal with two days of rehearsals and three days of shows.

The event is taking place at Carriageworks in Eveleigh NSW.  It's right next to Sydney University and close to Redfern Station.  Carriageworks is housed at the old Eveleigh rail yards in the emerging Redfern Waterloo precinct and was developed by the NSW Government.  They have kept the authentic feel of the railway carriage and blacksmith workshops with lots of iron and brickwork.

Carriageworks is the largest contemporary multi-arts centre of its kind in Australia.  The Carriageworks program is artist led and is committed to reflecting social and cultural diversity.

As a Mumager you do a lot of hanging around, so on day one I found myself a lunch spot at the Cornerstone Bar and Food.

It's pretty quirky.  I loved it! So much so that I'll be heading their for dinner before tonight's show.
