Day 2266 - A trip to the movies

When Star Wars is more than just Star Wars.

Today we headed to the movies at the Promenade Shops in Saucon Valley. It's not the bestie's usual hang-out but we decided to combine shopping, with movies, with a visit to my US based attorney.

First things first. We met up with our man Andy who successfully secured our Cheer Chick Charlie trademarks for us in the USA. This was no easy feat given someone tried to steal them from underneath us.  We applaud his legal prowess often.  It was great to see him in his home state of PA and to introduce him to my crew.  He shouted us lunch which was a bonus.

Secondly, where there are shops, the Langdowns will spend.  There are still a heap of after Christmas sales going on so we all benefited from the expedition.

Finally, we went to the movies.  Yep, it was time to see Star Wars.  Now let me start by saying that I am the only member of my family who wasn't excited by this, but I went out of respect for the hype.

I'm not going to talk about the movie right now,  It was Star Wars and it had Harrison Ford in it and there were aliens and space ships and light sabers.

What I am going to talk about is how long it bloody took for the movie to start! I can honestly say there were around twenty ads on before the previews even got a look in.  We were seriously there for about 30 minutes before the first preview came on.

Oh, but in the middle of the ads there was this really cool "game" for the people in the audience created by TimePlay.  To play you have to have the TimePlay app. It starts by having you answer a movie trivia question, then those people who get the answer right get to play a video game (using their phone) which comes up on the movie screen for everyone to watch.  They all play against each other. The first place winner got a large bucket of popcorn, second place won a drink and third place won a bottle of water with any popcorn purchase.  It was a great little gimmick and one that I could see catching on at cinemas around the world.

As for the movie previews I am very excited by The Secret Life of Pets which is due for release mid 2016.  Hysterical. Can't wait!

So yeah, we went and saw Star Wars.  I don't have a lot to say about it other than the expedition was a whole lot more than Star Wars.

Oh and Harrison Ford is still Harrison Ford and a light saber is still a light saber.
