Day 2298 - Family Haircuts

When you turn a haircut into a family date.

Chai, chocolate, fashion, head massage, good conversation, free wifi, new hair ... what else is there?
We have a fantastic hairdresser.  The problem with having a fantastic hairdresser is that everybody wants a piece of her.  Which means you've got to book WELL in advance.

With the overseas travel and then the quick trip to the coast, I wasn't thinking about haircuts over the holidays which meant I left it too late to get us all in for our going-back-to-school-and-work-make-overs at the same time.

To cut a long story short we ended up having to stagger our appointments across a four hour time period.

Which would be fine except that our hairdresser is half an hour drive from us.  So rather than simply having a trip to the hairdresser, it ended up being a full on excursion that took up half the day.

Instead of feeling bothered by it, we turned Mum's diary disaster into a "let's get dressed up and go out" adventure.

Our haircuts became a Mum, son, daughter date.

We all got our heads pampered at different times across the morning. We all had magazines and free wifi to keep us occupied.  We all got to chat with lovely hairdressers. And most importantly, we all had fabulous new dos which made us grow an inch in confidence.

Then in between all of this we got to wander around the Kingston Foreshore checking out the eateries and had a lovely lunch at a pub on the water front.

A morning by the Kingston Foreshore in my "let's have lunch" clothes and healthy new hair.
Neither of my kids were feeling the bloggy love so avoided the bloggerazzi camera.  You're just going to have to take my word for it.  It WAS a date, not a figment of a lonely mum's imagination.

I've decided that a trip to the hairdresser should always take this format! Or maybe not all the time. But once in a while certainly makes for a great date.

If you're in Canberra looking for a new hair stylist, be sure to check out the crew at Scissor and Roc. They also have a Man Cave where my little man gets his too-cool-for-school cuts done. They've got it all covered!
Tell them Leanne sent you.
