Almonds and Cashews are a good source of magnesium |
So when it comes to non-migraine pain, I do my best to stay away from the pills.
I've learned recently that nuts that are rich in magnesium, like almonds and cashews, are a great way to nip a headache in the bud if you catch it early.
Apparently magnesium is known to help relax blood vessels which is one way to stop a pesky headache from becoming unbearable.
According to Woman's Day Magazine (2 May 2016) "headache sufferers who upped their magnesium intake reduced attacks by 41.6 per cent".
Now if you're a fair dinkum migraine sufferer, the whole nuts thing may not help you, because some migraine sufferers note nuts as a trigger. Which stuffs this whole blog post totally.
But if it's just a plain old fashioned headache you've got, then perhaps give almonds and cashews a try! At the very least you'll be increasing your Vitamin E, copper, Vitamin B2, phosophorus, fibre, biotin and manganese intake.
This is just another way to help us all age positively.
Happy Monday!
Wow....I didn't know that. I have suffered migraines since I was about 19 but have only had one really bad one in the last 18 months after I stopped eating bread with preservatives in it!
ReplyDeleteWho are woman's day's sources?
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona - check out their link here http://www.womansday.com/food-recipes/advice/a1662/9-foods-that-can-help-soothe-a-headache-108253/ Note: Almonds are found to be a migraine trigger so this would only work if it's a non-migraine headache.
DeleteOr at least a link to their article so I can look it up?
ReplyDeleteHi Phonakins - see link in comment above. Hope that helps!
