Day 2401 - Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Collection.

We could all use a little bit of Marilyn in our life ...

Part of this whole ageing positively gig is being confident in the skin we're in.

There are days when we feel great and there are days where we feel less than.  There are even days where we might feel absolutely shite.

As the winter weather descends on Canberra, my fibromyalgia pain starts to kick in.  The feeling of "shite" can take a hold.

There is one thing that helps boost my mood though.  Getting dressed to impress and wearing red lipstick.

Max Factor know all about helping women feel confident and they've created the Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Collection to do just that.

Max Factor have discovered that the colour red is associated with "strength, motivation and passion" which is the perfect combination for powerful, glamorous women.

As we know, red isn't just red.  Red can have orange tones, blue tones or pink tones.  Red can be deep and rich, or light and shiny.  For red to work, we need to find the red that's best for each of us.

Using colour technology, Max Factor has created four shades in the hope that there's at least one shade to suit every woman.

Each have been crafted to work in harmony with individual skin tones - warm, cool and dark.

Using undertones of orange, blue and purple, the shades have been developed to ensure the colour pops and creates a glamorous look for every woman.

Ruby Red, Sunset Red, Berry and Cabernet.

I was sent the Marilyn Sunset Red and the Marilyn Cabernet to trial.  While the Sunset Red is theoretically better for me, I am definitely more attracted to the blue/purple tone reds like the Cabernet.

I've trialed both the Cabernet and the Sunset Red
Cabernet is my favourite but I'll probably take Sunset Red for a spin when I'm in Vegas.

Wearing Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Cabernet Lipstick helps boost my autumn mood.

A little bit Marilyn is good for the soul.

I am definitely loving the colour choices in the Marilyn Monroe range.  As I said before, I love a good red lipstick.  Apparently the formula includes micro milled pigments which allow for increased light reflection for a more intense colour which is cool.

I am also enjoying the feel of the lipstick. It's easy to apply and you don't get that smudging you so often get with a red lipstick.  So far it hasn't ended up on my teeth yet either (although that's totally possible with me).  It's actually quite nourishing on the lips on account of the grapeseed oil and avocado butter they've used.

You do have to reapply it though. It's not one of those stay fast varieties that keeps you red all day.  But it doesn't all wipe off in one go either. It fades gradually and at the end of the day you still seem to have a slight tint and gloss on the lips which is nice.

When I first opened the lipstick I was mystified by the scent.  Lipstick doesn't normally smell, or if it does, it all tends to smell the same.  The Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Collection has been designed to embody Marilyn's "sweet and alluring persona".  The smell has a kind of citrus and vanilla vibe.

So there you have it.

Just when you thought all red lipstick was the same, we throw some Marilyn in to snazzy it up a little.

It's not often you get a global ambassador from beyond the grave. It just goes to show how spectacular and relevant she continues to be.

The Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Collection is being released this month and costs around $20 each.

It will be available wherever Max Factor products are sold.

  1. How did I miss this release? So exciting, I 'll definitely be checking out this collection next time I'm in Priceline. Cabernet looks great on you!

    1. Thanks Di! Kinda cool that she's an ambassador for a brand over 50 years after her death.

  2. Red lipsticks are such a wonderful mood and confidence booster! I'll have to check these ones out.

    1. I actually encourage my clients to wear red lipstick when they need a confidence boost. I'll be recommending Marilyn for sure!

  3. Loving the Cabernet. Might need to case that one myself.

    1. I love it too. But then again, I was a big fan of Revlon's "Wine with Everything" back in the late 80s and early 90s ... clearly there's an attraction with the colour of red wine!

I love hearing your thoughts! Keep them rolling in :)
