Day 2499 - Dr Roebuck's Eye Regeneration Cream - Product Review

Got too much eye luggage?

From the day I turned 40 (and therefore from the day I started this blog) I've often complained about the luggage under my eyes.  Forget bags, I have entire suitcases.   In fact, there have been times when I've actually thought backpackers may have set up camp on my face.

Which is why I jumped at the chance to trial Dr Roebuck's EYE cream.

The PR peeps actually sent it to me about 4 weeks ago, but it's taken me this long to write about it.  Not because it's no good (if it was no good you would't be seeing it on my blog at all). The first two weeks I spent staring at how pretty it is, then the second two weeks I spent thinking how I really should start using it.

It wasn't until my super busy weekend combined with a couple of sleepless nights and a bout of tears* gave me no choice.  Use the Dr Roebuck's EYE cream or live with backpackers.

I started by putting it on the back of my left hand to check the consistency, the smell and the general feel.  I love that it looks ever so slightly grainy without the feel of a grain.  There is a slight smell to it, but nothing overbearing and nothing fake.  It smells kind of neutral. I put it on before bed and my left hand was noticeably smoother and softer than my right immediately after application.  It felt light  and soft on the skin. Lovely.

Then I put it on my left eye at dawn to see if I could spot a difference.  I was very puffy from sleep. Again, after application that eye area was noticeably smoother and perhaps slightly tighter than the right.  My eye luggage was still there (no miracles yet) but that side of my face did seem to feel lighter.  After an hour I closely inspected my eyes again and the luggage under my left eye was about half of what it was on my right eye.  I was still puffy and had darkish circles, but it was diminishing on the left side of my face.

Dr Roebuck is known for a natural healthy approach to skincare.  The business started in 1978 when he created a formula he called PURE to treat the Ezcema of his newborn twin daughters.  He did away with the unnecessary fillers, colours, scents and unnatural chemicals to create a cream that only contained the necessary ingredients to treat very dry skin.

His twin daughters now run the successful Dr Roebuck brand which includes products like CLEANSE, PURE, FACE, POLISH, TONE, PURE BODY, BUBS AND BITS, EVERYDAY BODY, LIPS .... the list goes on.

EYE is the newest product to hit the Dr Roebuck list.  Launched in July this year it is designed to visibly repair and refresh the eye area.  "What's more, combining some of natures most active, efficacious ingredients, it ticks all the boxes without any added nasties," says Chief Product Officer, Zoe Roebuck.

So what does EYE contain?

I'm glad you asked ....

  • Coconut Oil:  Deeply moisturises and hydrates to prevent premature ageing and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Caffeine: Reduces dark circles and bags around the eyes
  • Rosehip Seed Oil: Regenerates skin to diminish wrinkles while soothing and softening
  • Amica Montana Flower: Aids in specifically reducing dark rings around the eye area
  • Vitamin E Oil: A powerful antioxidant that works deep in the dermis to repair damaged skin
  • Lecithin: Naturally moisturises, while allowing each active ingredient to penetrate the dermis
  • Sodium PCA: A highly effective natural amino acid that retains moisture in the skin to enhance overall skin elasticity.
Without the addition of superfluous fillers and true to the Dr Roebuck's philosophy of 'minimal ingredients, maximum results', each ingredient has a purpose.

I actually LOVE that this is so natural.  In fact, just reading the ingredients list above and learning about the Dr Roebuck's story has me feeling more empowered as a middle-aged woman to continue using this product as I journey on this ageing positively gig.  His business story (and the story of his daughters) also has me feeling better about my own business story and the cause of the aforementioned tears feels less significant now.

Dr Roebuck's is Australian owned and made and can be found in David Jones stores across Australia, as well as online at  These products are also now available in Canada.

Dr Roebuck's Eye is suitable for all skin types.  To use apply a small amount using your finger tips and dab in a side-way motion along the bottom and top eyelids.  For best results use twice daily, morning and evening to visibly diminish puffiness, fine lines, dark circles and bags.

Dr Roebuck's EYE retails for $39.95 for a 15ml jar.

*Those tears of frustration were over a fairly significant business disappointment. Oh well. Onward and upward!

  1. I reviewed an eye cream once. I wasn't convinced it would work so wanted to try it on just one eye. Only I wasn't game, in case it did work to test it on myself. So each night when hubby was out cold, I would apply it to his left eye. OMG the difference it made. I was super annoyed I'd wasted so much product on him. Did he notice? no but everyone else did.

  2. My eyes have steamer trunks today! My youngest woke at 2.38 and I settled her but then I couldn't go to sleep until after 5.09 (then up at 6!) It's going to be a long day and I don't think there's a cream that will fix my face!

    1. Damn steamer trunks. The're buggers! Hope you get to hit the sack early tonight.

  3. Eye luggage is de rigeur for shift workers! This looks very promising!

    1. It actually does seem promising! No absolute miracles, but definitely helps with the unpacking ...

  4. I've had all sorts of trouble trying to find an effective eye cream. I've just started trialling this product too! I'm glad you found it effective.

    1. The proof will be in whether or not it gives consistent results and for how long ... But on first use it seems like it might be a goer ...

  5. I think my eyes have become immune to my Estee Lauder eye cream that I have known and loved for so many years, or maybe my eye baggage has just become too big a job to handle. This looks like a great option and I love that it's natural. Win, win!

    1. I wonder if we do become immune? I mean, it makes sense. We become immune to medications etc if we use them forever (apparently) so perhaps we do become immune to beauty products as well.

  6. This is a great reminder that I need to start using my eye cream again! :)

  7. Haha I'm always not wanting to open pretty things. I am actually working on using the pretty things I have. Like notebooks. I have so many notebooks. I like the one eye idea to test - very smart!

  8. Ooooh, looks like there are some amazing natural products in EYE. I'm starting to get some luggage *groan*. Time to start putting some maintenance in, me thinks!

I love hearing your thoughts! Keep them rolling in :)
