Today I give you 3 ways to ditch the crankies.
I'm hearing a lot of F bombs lately. It seems that as the year draws to an end and the silly season starts to emerge, there are some very Frustrated people Floating about.
What?! You mean you're not Lovin' Life right now?
Well that's unFortunate.
Don't get me wrong, I love myself a good F word. FFS is by far my favourite abbreviation on messenger.
I've just noticed that so many people seem to have a great big dose of the crankies lately. Myself included! There's not a lot of tolerance and some people are getting downright nasty.
So I thought that as we hang out together on this Lovin' Life Linky (right before we hit the Forever Fabulous Friday) we might think of some alternative F words to get us through to the end of the year with a smile on our dial.
FUN
Yes it's the end of the year, yes we're coming into the silly season, and yes there's a shite load of stuff to get done between now and Christmas, but that doesn't mean we can't add some Fun to the equation. If what we're doing isn't bringing us joy, then Find a way to bring a sense of Fun to what it is we're doing.
FESTIVITIES
The sun is out, the birds are chirping, the Flowers are blooming and Australia is trying very hard to show us that it's a time to celebrate. Instead of dwelling on what isn't going well, then Find a way to celebrate what is. Bringing a sense of Festivity to the end of each week (or even each day) helps us to reFocus.
FASCINATION
The reality is that most people are cranky due to Frustration. Frustration has this horrible habit of having a Flow on eFFect. Frustration begets Frustration. So when someone starts to Frustrate us, let's make a decision to be Fascinated by them instead.
- Isn't it Fascinating that she thinks her personal phone call is more important than serving customers?
- The fact that he has decided to slow down at a green light is incredibly Fascinating.
- Her need to use such a snippy tone on the phone is quite Fascinating. What could be going on in her world that she needs to transfer bad energy to me?
It's amazing what a difference this tweak in wording can be. In Fact, it can become downright Funny.
Today's F-Word post was inspired in part by Jo at Lifestyle Fifty who was calling for topics for her radio stint today.
Have you noticed the Frustrations of late?
Have you been dropping a few extra F bombs?
Got any alternative F words?
I hope your day is full of FUN, FESTIVITIES and FASCINATION.

I was really down yesterday for no reason I could place (other than sitting in Medicare for an hour) so I asked people I knew on FB to post some photos of their holiday in Jimbaran and daytrip toe Wine Island because I knew that would cheer me up....pretty travel photos usually works for me...
ReplyDeleteI had a flat day on Wednesday too. Must have been the day for it.
DeleteWhat a fabulous post! Yes it's ironic that just before the festivities of Christmas, which is one of the happiest times of year for a lot of people, there is a lot more frustration than normal around!
ReplyDeletePeople are probably just long overdue for a holiday. Although in Canberra I've been blaming the extra long winter we had this year.
DeleteA good reminder to chill and not let things get to us! I do find myself starting to feel more tense at this time of year and yes a tad frustrated at the length of my 'to do list'!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird how we always think the end of year has snuck up on us. Suddenly we don't have enough time left to do the things we need to get done. It's the same length every year (give or take a day). We really are interesting creatures us humans ...
DeleteFavourite F word... Fly. Given Jetstar have just announced return flights are free and flights to Singapore from Perth are just $149. Mind you when you add all the extras, it's closer to $250 but still for a return flight to Singapore, it's pretty good.
ReplyDeleteWell that was clever!! What a deal :) Are you going to do it? Looking forward to some Singapore posts real soon.
DeleteHahah - I love the FFS reference, I use it a lot too! I've noticed a bit of frustration around me lately too. Everyone seems to be so tired and annoyed towards the end of the year. Love how you've turned it into a fun post though. I like the way you think! :) #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeletethe end of year blues. We talk about it a lot with kids and their end of school year, but it definitely applies to the rest of us as well. Perhaps we all just need to take a chill pill.
DeleteA freakin' fabulous post! You are so right, there is far too much negativity and crankiness around at the moment. The world is full of grumpy nasty people at times. I'll give you another F word and that is Fitness. Exercise and getting fit helps to take the frustration and tension out of a stressful life.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Thanks. Fitness is a good one!! Yep, definitely should have included that in my list.
DeleteMy F word of the day ... FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteSSG xxx
That one word sums you up SSG!
DeleteThere has been a lot of FFS from me lately! Unfortunately, my post that I linked is one of those posts too hahahahaha! Definitely time to move past it and get into the fun stuff :)
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely a lot to swear at that's for sure. Luckily there's still a lot to smile at too. Loved your post. Read it to my husband. Made him raise his eyebrows and for once he didn't have a lot to say ... LOL
DeleteIn the past year I have used the F word more than ever....it has been out of sheer F for frustration, fear and failure about myself...so I know I am 'better' than that....and I am noting aiming for more F for FUN in all I do. I have linked up today instead of Sunday since I made my change from blogging each day to when I choose to. Happy Thursday Leanne. xx
ReplyDeleteYeah, Fear and Failure are big F words. Thanks for linking today! I would have visited you Sunday too, but happy to have you on a Thursday.
DeleteHappy Thursday (which is now Friday) to you too Denyse x
"now" not noting
ReplyDeleteDamn auto correct. There's a few more F words right there.
DeleteFFS is a favourite of mine as well and I keep noticing an advertisement for a piece of jewelry with it on and wondering if FB (etc) is trying to tell me something (that I use it too much). My F-word for today is F-riday cos I have this big meeting on and when it's F-inished I'll be happy. I just want T-hursday to be done!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Deb!!! Now you can relax.
DeleteI love the idea of being Fascinated by Frustration. I will try it. Frustration certainly boils over in my house leading up to Christmas each year and I Find it so disappointing!I like the idea of a Frugal Christmas. The consumerism gets a bit out of hand I reckon. It's so much more Fun when we keep things in perspective :-)
ReplyDeleteHello Shauna! Welcome to the Lovin' Life Linky.
DeleteThat whole turning frustrations into fascinations thing really works.
And as far as the whole Christmas consumerism is concerned, I hear ya!
I've decided to stop berating myself for being a Failure because it's not my Fault I'm experiencing an autoimmune Flare. I spent three hours yesterday tidying a cupboard and sorting my shoes. What a Fantastic win! .
ReplyDeleteI would love to have time to tidy my cupboards. So yeah, that is definitely a win.
DeleteAs for Failure, let's remove that word from the vocabulary. It's a sucky word that really doesn't need to be there.
Hope you're feeling OK today?
Thanks for joining the Lovin Life Linky Kim-Marie. So happy to have Kimbalikes here!
Haha, love this - your F Bomb words are Fantastic and Frivolous and Fragilistic (okay I made that one up) and Fank you so much for the shout out too :) With Christmas looming people do get cranky don't they and I don't know why it should be - is this the underplay of capitalism at large, the stress of consumerism, the need to make everything perfect on The Day? I'm going to be back in England with my family for Xmas, and there will be 16 of us for lunch - in one room, with me and my sister at the helm. Although I'm very excited and enthused, I will hang my hat on "look at everyone as Fantastic" during the lead up preparations to this. #teamlovinlife
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan!
DeleteHow lovely to be going to England for Xmas. We did USA for Christmas last year. It was so nice to see the world from that Northern Hemisphere perspective.
We're actually hosting Christmas at our house this year. I'm expecting at least 20 people for lunch, possibly even 26. Eeek! Is it too late to buy my tickets to head back to the USA?
Ooooh the sun finally came out in Melbourne today and it was definitely Freaking Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteDitto for Canberra. It's been a bloody long winter! Thanks for visiting the lovin' life linky Bec. So great to see you here.
DeleteI think the "F" bomb gets dropped like a punctuation mark these days - it's all over Pinterest and on every second quote you see lately. I prefer to be Fabulous and Forget the "F" word completely.
ReplyDeleteThere's a time and place for the F word, that's for sure. And seeing it signposted everywhere for eternity is definitely Fueling the Fire.
DeleteI'm with you Leanne - too much of the (rude) F word in our world today. Yes, I use it far too much myself in speech but I draw the line at using it when writing/blogging/social media-ing - for some reason it just offends me there!
DeleteAs a sci-fi nerd, I always loved Battlestar Galatica's approach to the F word: Frak. As in, I frakking love this post!!! : ) I think we should be thankful for what we have, stay positive in all things, and to not let other people bother us so much. Focus on what we can do and how we are acting, become the best we can be, and stop getting so stressed out by what others are doing!
ReplyDeleteWell said! And Frak is a great alternative. So is Fudge and Faaaaaar-out. Even crows say it well .... Faaaaaaaaaark.
DeleteLeanne, hubster and I joke that they are calling for Maaaaaark and wow he must be the most popular crow ever!
DeleteI firmly believe our long winter had a lot to do with all this craziness we've been seeing on the internet lately . . . let's hope the cold has now F'd off and we can crack on with the Fun!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! I was referring to Canberra as a bowl of negativity soup this week. Heat allows bad energy to rise and dissipate, but without the heat it's all just been stewing in the bowl for far too long. Hopefully this warmer weather will get rid of some of the demons.
DeleteHaha love it! Forget frustration ... FASCINATING!!! I need to remember that one!
ReplyDeleteIt is single handedly the best tool for anger management. Turning your frustrations into fascinations. Completely changes the entire vibe ...
Delete#TeamLovinLife
Hi Leanne I've just discovered your blog and #TeamLovin'Life! I have to admit to using FFS quite a bit lately as we are caring for my 90 year old MIL and sometimes that can take a toll. I do love all of your other choices for 'F' words. We need to be positive and enjoy this time of year rather than feeling the end of year blues and frustrations. I'm looking forward to connecting with you in future link ups.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to have you here Sue! Can't wait to see more of you. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI estimate that I've dropped about 100,000 extra F-Bombs during the process of getting my American driver's license. It is so damn convoluted and confusing! And DMV staff are the opposite of helpful. So I am VERY happy to have that over and done with!
ReplyDeleteUh, yes. I have dropped more than a few F bombs recently... fun bombs, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love how youve turned this around to use fascinated! What a great jdea. I love to flip a negative into a positive :) #teamlovinlife
