Smile for the camera!
According to Women' Health Magazine Australia (January 2017) a study published in the journal "Psychology of Well-Being" found that taking daily selfies can improve your confidence.
I guess self awareness and learning to love yourself has been taken up a notch with the selfie. Instead of standing in front of a mirror alone, smiling at ourselves and practising our positive self talk, we're sharing that sense of self with the world through our photos.
It's the smiling at ourselves that's the key. By smiling at ourselves we are showing that we are happy with ourselves, which in turn boosts our confidence and self worth.
The study undertaken by the University of California (Irvine) tracked a broad range of moods (2897 to be exact) and found that selfie takers were more confident, while people who took photos of objects were more appreciative and those who took photos for others were calmer and more connected.
So perhaps we should all take a few more selfies. It's all in the name of ageing positively after all.
How's your mood?
Do you take selfies?
Or are you the one taking pics of objects and other people?

Haha I'm gonna use that as my excuse from now on ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think selfies are good for you, as long as you're taking them for yourself, not for likes :)
