Life This Week
There comes a time when when we need to take stock of our life. To write a list of all the things that are going well and recognise what fulfills us.
Pip Lincolne from Meet Me At Mikes devised a "taking stock" list that captures many aspects of our lives to make us think about all the little things that make up who we are. A list that encourages us to stop and think, not just about the stuff we are doing, but about our current frame of mind.
Here's my Taking Stock list for today:
Making: Time to snuggle under a doona and watch TV
Cooking: Stews and soups
Drinking: Far too many chai lattes
Reading: "Talking As Fast As I Can" by Lauren Graham
Wanting: More energy
Looking: For an entertainment unit to go with the new couch and carpet
Playing: Solitaire on my phone whenever I'm sitting idly waiting for someone
Wasting: Time by watching too much TV and playing too much Solitaire
Sewing: Are you kidding? Sewing is right up there with ironing. Not gonna happen.
Wishing: That my many projects were closer to reaching my vision
Enjoying: Seeing my son prepare for the Kanga Cup soccer tournament this week
Waiting: For our holiday to Noosa in one week
Liking: Our weekend hot tubs under the blue skies in the fresh winter Canberra air
Wondering: How I'm going to move a house full of furniture when our new carpet is laid
Loving: That our ducted gas heating is working better than it has in years
Hoping: There aren't too many people sleeping on the streets this winter
Marveling: At how quickly my kids are growing
Needing: To take up drinking coffee so I can keep up with a world that is on a permanent caffeine high
Smelling: My Hamptons scented Glasshouse candle
Wearing: Jeans, jackets, boots, scarves and thermal under shirts
Following: As cliche as it sounds I'd prefer to lead, not follow.
Noticing: That my fibromyalgia pain isn't as severe since I've started on a new medication
Knowing: That it's the fibromyalgia fatigue that is stealing my energy
Thinking: About the last 6 months of challenges and knowing I can now start the year again fresh
Feeling: Hopeful that today's meeting with a new distributor will lead to positive forward movement
Bookmarking: Slow cooker recipes
Opening: A new box of rolled oats for my morning porridge
Giggling: At every second thing that comes out of my son's mouth
Feeling: Good about what the rest of the year has to offer.
Thanks to Denyse Wheelan for suggesting "taking stock" as today's blogging prompt. I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Denyse's weekly "Life This Week" linky and to wish her all the best as she takes a bloggy break to travel to Sydney to fight the Big C. My thoughts are with Denyse and her husband as she takes the journey back to good health.
When was the last time you took stock?
What would your taking stock list look like?
If we were to expand on this list, what new list item could we add?
Yes! Bookmarking slowcooker recipes and cooking soups non stop here as well.

Slow cooker recipes are a good idea - I haven't pulled mine out in ages.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that your new medication is doing its bit! I love that you're all snuggling under blankies and hot tubbing while I'm over the other side of the world sweltering on the couch with a book or trawling the internets. Best of luck to your son for the Kanga Cup!
ReplyDeleteSo much happening in your world, but glad you've got things to look forward to and taking solace in yummy recipes and the hot tub! And Noosa on the horizon!
ReplyDeleteMy fibro has kicked in big time lately, so I'm ecstatic to be on holidays for two weeks. I'm glad your pain seems to be lessening with the new medication. Would you believe I tried chai for the first time a week or so ago. Now I know what everyone raves about... it was pretty delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your fibromyalgia is not so painful and that you are heading to Noosa for a holiday. Just what you need some R&R. It is certainly the weather for nourishing soups and stews - I'm hungry now! Have a great week - Sue from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond
ReplyDeleteYay for Noosa in 1 week. Wish I could see you! As for soups and stews - oh yum - same here! Slow Cooker is getting a good work out. Good luck with the new carpet. We just did that here - HUGE JOB! Have fun! lol xo
ReplyDeleteHow lovely of you to wish us well. Thank you Leanne! I loved your taking stock and that your fibromyalgia is less symptomatic. Good news for winter! As for the moving of furniture..don't! Get some muscle men in. And take the chance while you are mentally shifting furniture to donate or sell that which no longer suits the purpose. Have a wonderful holiday in Noosa. That is just the ticket! Thank you linking up....and I shall be back!! Denyse xx
ReplyDeleteLoving your optimism. Here's to 2017, the restart!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better re your fibro myalgia. Enjoy Noosa!
ReplyDeleteLove how positive your taking stock is Leanne - may it continue to be that way for the rest of the year!
ReplyDeleteOoh, Noosa sounds heavenly! I'm way overdue for a holiday. Safe travels!
