Two parents, an only child and the resulting extension of their union. |
They didn't want a party but instead had hoped to take us all to Thailand for an adventure. That had to be postponed due to Chelsea and Dad's cancer diagnoses. Staying in Australia was the better option and adventure has been switched for relaxation instead.
Noosa is the self-proclaimed relaxation capital of Australia. So with that in mind the Golden celebrations have been very low key and subdued. We're not zip lining through jungles or rafting down rivers or washing elephants (we'll save that for next year). We're quietly wandering through the national parks, kayaking in our "back yard", lying on the beach and sipping cocktails instead.
The day of their golden celebrations started with brunch in a lovely little cafe by the Noosa River. We then hit the soft goldie white sands of Noosa Beach for some rays before heading back to our chandelier adorned holiday house in Noosa Waters.
In response to my "Golden Wedding Anniversary Brief" everyone dressed in white and gold for a twilight toast on our deck with champagne, nibbles and seafood.
Photos of course were a must and it's the self-timed group shot that will end up in a frame as my gift to the folks in memory of their special day.
With Dad and Chelsea both on the other side of their surgeries and well into recovery mode it's easy to say that life is starting to look rosy again. I think that all things considered, we can go beyond rosy and aim for golden instead. A trip to Noosa is just what the doctor ordered.
Anyone else aiming for a life that is "golden"?
Have you ever celebrated somebody's golden wedding anniversary?
What are you lovin' about life this week?

Before I hand the reins over to you to start linking I'd like to pass you to Denyse Whelan for a minute. Just like Dad and Chelsea, Denyse is currently recovering from her recent cancer diagnosis and surgery. While the events of the last few weeks have been shocking and scary, Denyse has not lost her enthusiasm nor mantra for lovin' life. She is writing here to express her gratitude for this amazing online community.
It is my pleasure to
resume blogging this week after a major challenge of having radical and complex
surgery for oral cancer. Now I understand that for all of us even hearing the
word cancer is both scary and threatening and I am not here to say anything
different. I am writing today, and a part two post next week, about how
grateful I am for many positive aspects that have come into my life since my
cancer diagnosis in mid May 2017.. Leanne’s Lovin’ Life linky is one I join
each week because of its very spirit of positivity and caring. I was able to
find a sense of my own spirit as I dealt with many parts of the cancer
diagnosis and treatment (radical surgery in my case). I am grateful for the love
and kindness of many here who I know only via blogging who ‘chatted’ with me
on-line before and during my hospital stay. My social media networks buoyed me
so much and I was always grateful no matter what time of day to ‘have a chat’.
It was a real surprise and delight last weekend to have Leanne, Debbie and
Joanne send me a video message from the Sunshine Coast! Oh so thoughtful and
how wonderful is technology. Thanks Leanne for allowing me a few words in your
space and I am delighted to be back!
Love, Denyse
We're delighted to have you back Denyse. To hear more from Denyse make sure you check out her blog at www.DenyseWhelan.com.au

Thank you my friend! Back on the strong anti-b for a bit as part of leg wound looking slightly (slightly is ok, I am told) infected... so I'm doing all I'm told by GP and Community nurse... and getting used to poor B fixing this fussy woman's food... xx
DeleteCongratulations on your parents, and what a lovely way to celebrate. I can't believe Denyse is recovering so quickly!!
ReplyDeleteI think I realised I have recovered so well because I was so grateful it was done!
DeleteThank you dear Leanne for having me share such a special family update and celebration! I loved seeing your pics of the holiday and now I see this family photo I can see just how MAGICAL it must have been to be in a warm environment with the warmth of family all around! I have been most grateful for my blogging and social media friends particularly in hospital where there can be some lonely times. Much love to you .. and hoping for continuing good news for Dad & Chelsea xxxx
ReplyDeleteGolden would be amazing, but rosy feels more practical right now haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that your Dad and Chelsea are on the other side and recovering well. Happy 50th wedding anniversary to your parents. What a lovely idea to dress in gold and white! It looks fabulous in the photos and so appropriate for a golden wedding anniversary. I think Noosa was a perfect holiday destination to celebrate and it looks like you stayed at a fab place! Awesome to hear from Denyse. She has impressed me with her courage and positivity and I'm so happy she is recovering well. #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great family celebration. I am just aiming to maybe get married one day! My parents celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary in March.
ReplyDeleteMy in-laws celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year. It was bitter sweet and my MIL turned 90 and we had a double celebration. Within a week my FIL had passed away. Happy 50th to your Mum and Dad and wish them many more years of love together. Hope your Dad and Chelsea are recovering well. Enjoy your time in Noosa you all deserve it.

Sounds like the perfect holiday to me :-) ... your golden theme photo is perfect. I vaguely remember my grandparents' golden anniversary, in 1985, we celebrated with a family dinner at my uncle's home.
ReplyDeleteOh and wonderful to hear that Denyse is doing so well!
ReplyDeleteLovely, Denyse.
ReplyDeleteYour parents' anniversary trip sounds idyllic. Congratulations to them on their beautiful marriage.
I'm glad you've been enjoying your holiday and it's certainly looked relaxing and I suspect what everyone has needed after such a big and busy year for all of you. Perhaps you'll see the benefits in moving north as well?!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the lovely note from Denyse. I've loved that she's been sharing her journey on social media and being honest about its ups and downs, which I think is really important for those in similar situations or newly diagnosed.
What a lovely occasion to celebrate in Noosa with your family. It's terrific news that everyone is post-surgery and going well. Enjoy your time together and treasure this moment. :) #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely family photo - I'm sure it will be one you treasure forever (and you look like your mum btw!) Congrats to your parents on all those years together - quite an achievement in this day and age!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous photo! Love the white and gold theme and hope you all had a wonderful celebration :)
ReplyDeleteDi from Max The Unicorn
Love the photo and it seems to me that Noosa is a perfect place for a Golden Anniversary. Glad you had a chance to celebrate and relax after all you have been through. May this side of all the surgeries, including Denyse's, continue to be golden and rosy all together. As always thanks for the linkup.
