Happy birthday to my blog

Getting ready to head off to my school reunion |
I'm now 40 with a big fat lady hanging off the end. Shocking how that voluptuous woman crept up on me with such stealth.
A birthday for me signals that my blog is also celebrating an anniversary. What started out as a one year exercise in daily blogging to explore my 40th year has turned into over 2900 posts about all things ageing.
For 7.5 years I blogged daily.
Yep.
Every. Single. Day.
But for the last 6 months I decided to ease back and relieve some of the pressure. I went to week day blogging only and just recently I decided to only blog when I feel like it.
Fancy that! Only doing something when you feel like it ...
Which is a bit of a relief given there's a lot been happening in the land of the Deep Fried in recent weeks.
The stuff I've been lovin' since I hung out with you last week includes:
- New carpet and a new lounge room suite
- Celebrating my 30 year school reunion and catching up with old friends
- Welcoming my boys home from their soccer tour of Japan
- Spending time with my girl in Sydney
- Having a birthday.
- Preparing for my daughter's big 18th birthday bash tomorrow night

So there you go. There is a great big 8 in my life which is well worth celebrating.
Happy birthday to me.
Happy blogoversary to Deep Fried Fruit.
And happy 18th birthday party for my girl.
What are you lovin' about life this week?

Happy Birthday again! And 7.5 yrs of daily blogging is amazing!! You've so earned a break. I've cut back to once a week but I think I'll take a few weeks off soon!
ReplyDeleteI've felt quite liberated by it all to be honest. Who knew?
DeleteI'm in awe at the daily for 7.5 yrs...& in awe at you generally. Happy birthday. May the year ahead be full of fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo. I totally intend to put the "fit and fabulous" back into my Deep Fried title.
DeleteHappy birthday to you and happy bloggiversary to Deep Fried Fruit!
ReplyDeleteThat is a heck of a lot of blog posts you have written!

Yes, it's all been quite exhausting. Happy to have taken a step back.
DeleteHappy Birthday, beautiful!! It's been such an honour getting to know you over your all this time.
ReplyDeleteSSG xxx
Thanks SSG. Ditto.
DeleteHappy Birthday and Happy Bloggiversary to you :) Wow, that's a whole lot of posts - you are so inspiring. May the year ahead be full of sparkles and happiness and blog posts and very little fatique :) x
ReplyDeleteHaha, Thanks Jo. Yes, that fatigue bit is a reoccurring factor I'm afraid.
DeleteCongratulations on both your blogging record of 8 years...and the fact that you are now blogging when you feel like it!! Its so freeing isnt it? I am loving my 2 days a week blogging - and linking up 3 times - but when I was blogging each day for around 20 months it was for a purpose and then that purpose changed. As we do!! Happy Birthday for yesterday. I am glad you got to spend it in the loving company of the family. Best wishes for your daughter's 18th..please tell me it is not happening anywhere near the newly laid carpet...LOL. Have fun!! You always do. Love, Denyse xx
ReplyDeleteI figured you'd be happy about me pulling back :)
DeleteRe the 18th ... nope ... nowhere near the new carpet. At a function room where there are professionals to check ID!
Happy birthday for yesterday! I'm all for just blogging how and when you want to!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa. Yes, it's taken me a while to get to this point (because when I commit I really commit) but it is refreshing. xo
DeleteSounds like you are really loving life at the moment! Have a great 18th tomorrow night! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy xo
DeleteExciting times in the Deep Fried Fam - and many happy returns, hope 48 is great for you!
ReplyDeleteI am sure 48 will be splendid. I mean, it's so symmetrical ....
DeleteSo much happening! (And I think the new Cheer magazine came out didn't it?)
ReplyDeleteYou sound busy but very very happy and that's all that matters! x
Oh my gosh, it did! How could I forget that? Was that really only a week ago? Now I feel like I need to edit my post to include that. Damn!
DeleteYou have had a lot to celebrate and love about life lately Leanne. Happy Birthday and there is no way there is a "big fat lady" in sight! #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteI was reflecting with my friends at the reunion about how tiny we were when we left school. I was actually 20kg lighter! Holy crap. I was more of a number 1 than a number 8. Happy to have some roundness about me now though :)
DeleteHappy birthday to you and your blog Leanne - nearly 3,000 posts is an amazing achievement! Blogging daily for all that time is even more astounding. Glad you're still finding a way to fit it in amongst your busy life :)
ReplyDeleteI really need to celebrate when I hit 3000. That will be momentous
DeleteStill a young girl in your 40's! Happy Birthday again and happy birthday to your blog. In fact you have made me realise I missed my own blogs birthday. Actually - not my current blogs birthday but how long I have been blogging. It's been 5 years now! Don't know how you have managed to blog every single day all these years. I did that in the beginning but couldn't keep it up. Enjoy the 18th birthday party for your girl! :-) #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteHaha, Yep, still young.
DeleteHappy Birthday for yesterday Leanne. I hope you enjoyed your day. You look fabulous! Remember, age is just a state of mind :) xox #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteI keep telling myself that!
DeleteHappy belated birthday to you and your blog, Leanne! Have a wonderful October and a fabulous year ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalie
DeleteHappy Birthday leanne and congratulations on 8yrs blogging. I too was 48 this year and don't feel any different. The teen in our house turned 18yrs a few weeks ago and it sure has made a difference to him, he seems to have grown up a notch, fingers crossed it lasts. This week is also my blog aniversary, Unclutter Your Universe is 1yr this week and what a year it has been. I love being part of blog land, but also need to be mindful of how much it can suck out of you. So now only blog once a week and send a weekly newsletter to the subscribers. Enjoy your week of celebrations.
ReplyDeleteWe have much in common Jenni!
DeleteWell I'm in awe! Congratulations and happy birthday but most of all happy celebrating, Kooksx
ReplyDeleteThanks Kooks. Birthdays last a week in our house so the celebrations will continue.
DeleteHappy birthday for you and your blog. All I can say is that you are both looking gorgeous, and you have some of your best years still to come. Enjoy! and have fun!
ReplyDeleteHahaha. My blog and I both thank you for the compliment :)
DeleteHappy birthday for yesterday. I am 40 soon and kind of freaking out about it!
ReplyDelete40 is fabulous. It truly is the best decade ever. Enjoy!
DeleteI have just found your blog and think I will be back. Congratulations - so many fabulous elements to get me hooked. Happy Birthday and don't fret that this decade is your best ...I thought that two decades ago and am still doing so much that I love! There is no such thing as retirement for women who love life ... just days when we stay in.
