Today is the day she undergoes life changing surgery to remove the cancerous T12 vertebrae from her spine to give her a greater chance of beating this ongoing battle with cancer.
I've given you snippets of her story over the years, but never the full details, because it's her story (not mine). If you would like to see her complete story, or if you'd like to show your support, click the Go Fund Me link above or click below to see what our local radio station has written.
Community rallies for single Canberra mum with rare cancer.
As you know, Chelsea is my step-daughter who has been in my life since she was 6.
She is lucky enough to have two families to love and support her right now. She has her dad, sister, brother and me, plus her mum, step-dad and another sister. Add to that a pile of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and a couple of step-sisters and she has a large contingent of people helping her to fight this disease. Not to mention the love and laughter of her darling daughter.
It turns out she also has an entire community as well. A huge following of friends, fellow Canberrans, friends-of-friends, businesses and complete strangers who are opening their hearts and their wallets to ensure she gets through today's surgery with warm thoughts, lots of well wishes and without having to worry how to pay for it.
We cannot believe the outpouring of love and support she is receiving via the Go Fund Me campaign right now. All of this positive energy is not only boosting her mood, but it's also boosting her belief. It's giving her more energy to fight and a greater will to push through. Because with all this support she's being injected with positivity. Positivity, gratitude and love.
So despite the intensity of today - the nerves, the worry, the fear, the enormity of it all - it's easy to see what I'm lovin' about life this week.
How about you?
What is making you smile this week?
