I've been laying in bed contemplating if I should get up and blog today. It's Lovin' Life day but how can I bang on about lovin' life when Chelsea lost her fight yesterday?
Somewhere between 4.30 and 4.45am on Wednesday 5 December our Chels got her wings. Surrounded by family with her mum holding one hand and her dad holding the other, she passed away knowing we were all by her side. She took her final breath within 10 minutes of Derek and I entering the room. She'd waited.
As I lay staring at the ceiling this morning with Chelsea's Esmeralda pug on my lap and her big fluffy Alfie on the floor beside me, I wondered if it was a appropriate to continue with the Lovin' Life Linky.
This written celebration of life seems so forced.
Then I thought of who Chelsea was on Tuesday. On Tuesday she was smiling, talking, eating doughnuts, laughing and she even went for a lap around Clare Holland House on her wheelie walker. She later played naughts and crosses with her daughter and then ate more doughnuts in bed (covering herself in sprinkles) before falling asleep. She spent her day wearing a Seven Dwarfs Christmas tee.
During her final 24 hours she was Lovin' Life.
That's who Chelsea was and will forever be. The girl that fought like a warrior to live for as long as possible. Because every single day was precious for her. Every day she managed to fight the tumours was another day she got to be a mumma, a wife, a daughter, a sister and friend.
Every day, despite the incredible pain, she managed at least one smile.
So who am I to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling wondering if Lovin' Life is appropriate?
Lovin' Life is more appropriate than ever.
If Chelsea taught us anything it's to appreciate each day, stand tall, smile daily, love lots, eat the doughnut and don't give up without a damn good fight.
There's always something to love about life.
Forever at peace.
We love you Chel Bel.
