Happy Easter!
Easter is quite an interesting time of year. Whether you participate in the religious side or not, the Easter holidays in themselves are quite the topic of conversation.
Water cooler talk this year is how one can maximise their holiday potential, getting 10 days off and only giving up 3 vacation days.
I'm not sure about the other states, but with Easter falling right in the middle of the ACT school holidays, then having ANZAC Day in that same week, I think most of Canberra will be shut down next week. It may turn into a ghost town. Well, in the burbs anyway.
Most people I know are racing off tonight, they get their 4 day weekend, take Tuesday, Wednesday off work, have their ANZAC holiday, take off Friday and then the final weekend before school, giving them a big ten day vacay.
I don't know what the weather is like where you are but it is glorious in Canberra and the nearby NSW South Coast right now. Lovely days in the mid 20s means a lot of us are feeling really comfortable, calm and at peace. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right. (Thanks Goldilocks)
Which is how you should feel at Easter I suppose. Comfortable, calm, at peace and just right.
So for all of you out there taking advantage of the 10 days, please drive safely. The roads are historically horrible at Easter. Stay calm, give yourself extra time, don't race and just be at one with the traffic.
Don't forget the importance of ANZAC day in all this. Some of the best ANZAC days can be spent in different locations visiting their memorials and supporting their locals who fought for our country.
I'll leave you with my view yesterday.
What are you doing this Easter?
Anyone heading off to maximise their holiday time?
What's the water cooler talk around you this week?

Happy Easter to you too. I always remember the great Easter exodus out of Canberra to go down to Mollymook - and Easter in Ulladulla was always pretty special. We're off for 2 weeks in just over a weeks time so I'll be spending Easter finishing the draft of this novel & we have friends up from Sydney. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteEaster and ANZAC day in the midst of the school hols is both a good thing...and not so good if you are a teacher (!) fewer breaks. Term One has been a shocker for many in terms of length and weather. Happy Easter to you and yours. Tomorrow we celebrate a granddaughter's 7th b'day with her mum and adult siblings joining us for lunch. Denyse x
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you! We have a 4-day long weekend and have made plans for a train trip. #Lovin'LifelInky
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to your and your family Leanne. It is a busy time of year with school holidays and Anzac Day. I remember going to the Royal Easter Show when I was growing up and of course, Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs. #Lovin'LifeLinky
ReplyDeleteMy brother and SIL are heading here on their longest visit in years (like 4 days or so). They're staying at my mum's so I'll camp there as well but we'll probably spend some time at my place as well. I'm excited about the Red Tulip chocolate as it's my fave!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Leanne! I'm not going anywhere for Easter but hubby has the 10 day break and we'll be getting some painting done (inside the house). Hoping a day trip or two might get squeezed in there. Easter Sunday will be at Mum's with the family. #TeamLovinLife
ReplyDeleteWishing you and yours a restful Easter break, Leanne!

Enjoy your Easter holidays. Over here in the west we are in the middle of school holidays too. Thanks for the link up!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter and I hope that you enjoy your break. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI'm having my family over for Easter Brunch, it's my first Easter holiday since moving back to Michigan. It's also the first Easter without my dad, so there is a bit of sadness, too. But we celebrate the holiday and so all is good. Hope yours is a blessed and safe day, too.
