Day 3555 - Hamilton Island

Are you ready for my Island spam?

When I was a teen, Hamilton Island seemed like the most exotic place on the planet. I remember seeing it in advertisements, and possibly as a prize on game shows and in the news. I'm not sure where and when exactly it piqued my interest but something inside me thought it was only for yacht owners and overly bronzed millionaires.

The Whitsundays as a trip has always been on my list of must-do destinations.  The turquoise waters. the powdered sand, the turtles, yachts and the Great Barrier Reef. So when my hubby suggested we could actually do it for the same amount of Frequent Flyer points as (say) a trip to the Gold Coast, I was in!

Of course we had to plan it in school holidays, around soccer games and around university studies. In the end we had a good seven day break that saw us golf carting from one side of the island to the other on a daily basis to take advantage of the resort offerings.

Five things I loved about Hamilton Island:

  1. It is a car free zone with golf buggies only (unless you have a permit to need a full sized vehicle).  All road rules apply to the buggies including seat belts, 0.5 alcohol limit, no phones when driving and license required.  The speed limit on the island is 20km an hour
  2. The entire Island is the "the" resort, so no matter where you are staying, whether it be a hotel, apartment complex or house, you have use of the resort facilities which includes the choice of three pools right on the beach front, along with swim up bar, restaurant, gift shops and beach rentals.
  3. While it didn't apply to us they have a great set up for children with many activities including kids quad biking, face painting, hair braiding, table tennis, pool table, fussball and so much more. They also have a Kids Club so that parents can get some adult time. Our teens spent a bit of time at the pool table.  As did my hubby if the truth be known.
  4. There are hiking trails around the hills of Hamilton for those who want more than to just go "splat".  With maps and paths, stairs when needed, the hikes have been set up to cater for the experienced and inexperienced, the fit and the not-so-sprightly.
  5. Everything you need is there in its simplest form.  There is not a lot of competition between businesses because the island is set up as a resort it itself, so there is a bakery, a bank, a supermarket, a surf shop, a beautician, a hairdresser etc. No need for decisions!

We spent our days by the resort pool for the most part with activities thrown in around the edges.  Hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, eating, exploring, sleeping and a two course sunset cruise through the islands.

Heaven to be honest.

Would we go back?

Well that's something we're all wondering as a family.  The great debate.  Half the family says yes, let's do it again. The other half says, nope, where to next?

It's not something I feel I would need to do again because I've done it now.  Having said that, it was quite nice and relaxing, so I wouldn't say no if someone handed it to me.

Clearly that's what I'm lovin' about life this week (as I type this like a crazy woman needing to get to my day job).

What's been happening in your world?

Have you been to Hamilton?

Would you go back again?

  8. One of the most prominent issues the students have to deal with while writing assignments is plagiarism. Hence, they extensively use plagiarism checker to check if there are any copied content in the paper.Choose Myassignmenthelp.com.
Another major reason for using plagiarism checkers is that universities do not accept plagiarized content. Plagiarism is a serious offence. Hence, if found, the students are suspended or might even lose the grades.
Due to these limitations, it is evident that the plagiarism checking & wordcounter tool are not at all effective to check plagiarism. The term plagiarism is actually very broad. It is merely not coping with words. But these tools, unfortunately, detect words but not ideas. Hence, the chances of plagiarized papers remain.
