Day 3604 - A story about laughter

"And She Laughed" - a story by someone who needed to laugh. 

Once upon a time an almost 50 year old woman had a really bad week, month ... hell, let's call it for what it is ...

Once upon a time an almost 50 year old woman had a really bad year.



She came home from work and laid on the couch refusing to move.

She put her phone away so nobody could contact her.

She boiled the jug to drink tea.

She put her heat pack in the microwave.

She took painkillers.

She turned on Netflix.

She stared blankly at the screen and shed a tear.

Then her family started to arrive home and sat on the couches around her not knowing she was feeling glum. They just came and did what they always did.  But she wanted to be alone and wallow in her alone-ness.

Then the dog walked past wearing a blanket over its head looking way too much like ET and she laughed and laughed and laughed.

Her son gave one of his random off the cuff comments and she laughed and laughed and laughed.

Her daughter joined the banter and gave a weird snort and she laughed and laughed and laughed.

And unbeknown to her, her husband was in the house.  How did she find out? He farted.  He farted and farted and farted two rooms away like the bugle bum that he is and she laughed and laughed and laughed.

She laughed so hard that she was making everyone else laugh.

They all laughed and laughed and laughed.

Suddenly she wasn't glum anymore.

Moral of the story, laughter really is the best medicine.
