All you're getting from me today is a great big PARTY which relived my childhood and teen years in true disco fashion.
Let's just say the party was exactly as I'd hoped it would be. Colourful, loud and a total throwback to a life many decades ago so that I could fully celebrate and be proud of how far I have come in the last 50 years.
Some Five Oh essentials:
- Function room
- Friends and family
- Dress-ups
- Kick-arse play list
- Disco lights
- Amazing cake
- Photo wall for a trip down memory lane
- Slide show of more recent memories
- Laughter
- Champagne
- Balloons
- A "Sweet Caroline" sing along to end the evening
To protect the identity of my guests on the inter-webs I've done a little facial stamping. How cool are their costumes!
Just a few party pics to get you in the 70s/80s Festival of the Big Fab Five Oh mood.
Best. Party. Ever!
What are you lovin' about life this week?
Ever had a themed party?
What would you wear to a 70s/80s theme?
Happy birthday! I love that you had a great time!! I too loved mine. I don't get people that don't want to have one.
ReplyDeleteMe either. Zero birthdays are the BEST! 50 is the biggest. I mean, HALF A CENTURY!!! You get applause in cricket, why not applaud yourself?
DeleteLooks like a lot of fun. Glad you had the best birthday party ever. Keep on celebrating!
ReplyDeleteI actually still am! Got lots of birthday vouchers to use, so it just keeps going. Best. Birthay. Ever!
DeleteYou sure do know how to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Ain't that the truth. I love a good celebration.
DeleteThat looked like a fabulous party! Loved the costumes. I've never had a themed party. I was planning on doing one for my 50th but Grant & Sarah had already moved north. I'd planned a "denim" theme - so gave it to one of my characters instead. We have friends who do a lot of theme parties & its taken years of being their friends for my husband to get his head around it, but we always have a fantastic time.
ReplyDeleteGood that you can give it to your characters and live through them! It does deter some guests. Especially if they get to the day and they are feeling "half hearted" about going out. The dress ups can deter. I mean, it's deterred me in the past. But the right people turned up to my party in the end. All dressed up and ready to DISCO!
DeleteWow, what a cool time. Happy Birthday and what a cool party.
ReplyDeleteSo cool. Had a blast!
