What are your most used emojis?
For those who communicate with me regularly, it’s no secret that my most used emoji is the smiling face, closely followed by the laughing until you cry face, red heart and the good old-fashioned thumbs up.
ππππ
I love the smiley face emoji so much I even use it in emails and Skype chats at work, which I somehow get away with. I'm known as the girl who ends her corro with smiley face, smiley face,
smiley face.
πππ
Yesterday I decided to go rogue by replacing the smiley face with a high five to applaud a colleague for a job well done. Then I realised high fives are not socially acceptable in the COVID environment and figured an elbow touch might be more appropriate. Where does one find an elbow touch?
So I Googled it.
It turns out I'm not the only one who's been wanting an elbow touch emoji. There are a bunch of COVID related emoji options, including
the flexed bicep which is (apparently) used for the elbow-touch.
πͺπͺπͺ
I’m not convinced that translates. If someone sent me the
flexed bicep I would think they were telling me to stay strong, or they’re off to the gym, or they're metaphorically (or physically) flexing their muscles.
It turns out I’m not the only one who feels this way and
according to wired.com there is actually a call for the elbow bump emoji.
Anyway, the whole thing got me thinking about emojis in
general and I wondered what other emoji gaps there might be.
ππππππ
Talk to me!
What’s your top four emojis of choice?
What emoji do you think we need to add to our emoji
collection?
If you could create a new emoji, what would it be and when
would we use it?
Love your work,
Ciao for now!

It's Thursday! Time to celebrate all there is to love about life. π π π π π
Morning Leanne, nearly some time off from paid work for you! I use the emoji that I see as blowing a kiss...for love, for caring, for sending my best wishes...I used hearts a lot too.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I use sad face and angry one too (usually re politics)
Almost finished Telling My Story series...phew. Two more posts over the coming weeks and I am UP to DATE...on a story that has had stops and starts thanks to cancer. Going well now, Happy Easter to you and yours. Denyse
πππ❤️πππ Those are my most used! I struggle to take on board new ones because they are sooooo hard to see on my phone and I'm scared I'll get it wrong! lol There have been plenty of occasions I've looked for a particular emoji and haven't been able to find it but do you think I can think of an example right now? No! No doubt it will come to me after I publish this comment! π
ReplyDeleteHi Leanne - I use emojis when I message or text - usually the smiley one and the laughing one - with a heart thrown in for good measure. I'm also a bit of a fangirl of Bitmoji because it translates well to emails and was fun to set one up.
ReplyDeleteI use emojis when I text. My most used ones are the smiley face, the heart, and the laugh until you cry ones. I guess followed by the rolling eyes! :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to sound bad hear but I rarely use emojis. I know I am still in the 20th century-lol. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
